Constant Power Load Stabilization in DC Microgrids Using Continuous-Time Model Predictive Control

نویسندگان

چکیده

Despite its advantages over AC counterparts, DC microgrids present a lot of challenges. One these challenges is the instability issues caused by constant power loads (CPLs). CPLs deteriorate system’s performance due to their incremental negative impedance characteristics. In this paper, microgrid composed PV/battery system feeding pure CPL was considered. A continuous-time model predictive control combined with disturbance observer applied DC–DC bidirectional converter. The purpose composite controller address nonlinearity and maintain stability in large operating region under load PV generation variations. To show system, several tests were performed Simulation results good terms transient response, optimal tracking, region.

Stability analysis of DC microgrids with constant power load under distributed control methods

Constant power loads (CPLs) often cause instability due to its negative impedance characteristics. In this study, the stability of a DC microgrid with CPLs under a distributed control that aims at current sharing and voltage recovery is analyzed. The effect of the negative impedance on the behavior of distributed controller are investigated. The small-signal model is established to predict the ...

Minimax Model Predictive Operation Control of Microgrids

Due to the steady growth of decentralised distributed generation, the operational management of small, local electricity networks (microgrids) is becoming an increasing challenge to meet: How to provide an operational control for microgrids with a high share of renewable energy sources (RES) that is robust to perturbations? In this paper we address an optimal control problem (OCP) that maintain...

A Repetitive Control- based Approach for Power Sharing among Boost Converters in DC Microgrids

In this paper a repetitive control (RC) approach to improve current sharing between parallel-connected boost converters in DC microgrids is presented. The impact of changes in line impedance on current sharing is investigated. A repetitive controller is designed and connected in series with current controller of the boost converters to control the switching signals such that by regulating of th...
